Vienna, 2006-10-09/11
The Panel on Phytosanitary Treatments met in Vienna on 2006-10-09/11. The Panel finalized instructions to authors for future EPPO Standards on Phytosanitary Treatments. It was also agreed that from 2006, new standards and revisions of existing standards on phytosanitary treatments will no longer be published as part of the series PM 3 Phytosanitary procedures, but instead will be published in the new series PM 10 Phytosanitary treatments. The Panel reviewed the list of existing EPPO Standards and identified:

Hydrogen phosphine fumigation of dried fruits and nuts to control various stored product pests (alternative to PM 3/9)
Irradiation of stored products to control stored-product insect pests in general (alternative to PM 3/12)
Hot water treatment of Dracaena and Yucca cuttings against Opogona sacchari (alternative to PM 3/14)
A set of standards will be sent for country consultation in 2007. The Panel hoped that the consultation will be an opportunity to get some feedback from experience in EPPO countries.
The next Panel meeting will be held on 2007-10-09/11.
