3rd meeting of the Panel on Phytosanitary Treatments

The Panel on Phytosanitary Treatments met in Tel-Aviv, IL, on 2008-04-01/03 at the kind invitation of Mr Tager. The Panel reviewed the list of existing EPPO Standards and identified standards needing to be revised. It also identified new standards to be developed, which include irradiation standards and alternatives to methyl-bromide fumigation. Several drafts were finalized and sent for country consultation.
The Panel hoped that the consultation will be an opportunity to get feedback from experience in EPPO countries, in particular on the opportunity to develop standards on irradiation.
Special thanks are due to Mr Tager and his colleagues for organizing a technical visit to date tree plantations where the Panel had a chance to learn about pest monitoring projects.
The Panel members also had the opportunity to take a guided tour of the magnificent city of Jerusalem.
